Iranian Home Appliance
industry with more than 50 years of history, although having considerable
potential regarding availability of appropriate machinery and manufacturing
equipment, raw material and capable workforce in the field of design
and innovation, has not been developed satisfactory.
Taking into account the industry’s added value, country’s
geographical situation, close to important markets, existence of
transportation facilities, and the industry’s hard currency earning
potential, it was understood that basic and appropriate measures are
required to help the appliance industry gain its expected role in the
country’s economic activities. Therefore, the necessity of establishing
of a technical/specialized organization in the field of research and
innovation was felt by the major manufacturing companies.
As a result, the Home Appliance Research Co., (HARC), was established
by investment of seven companies and support from the Ministry of Industries
in 1992. The funding companies were: Azmayesh, Bahman, Deylaman, Freeze
Iran, Pakshooma, Pars Appliance and Pars Machine. Consequently, Arj
in 1994, Butan, Aabsal, and Iran pooya in 1997, joined the company,
which made the number of shareholders to eleven.
As a result of its vast research activities, HARC successfully managed
to obtain the Research Permission from the Ministry of Industries.
The company achieved the first rank in 1999, and third in 2002 (the
highest possible) in the category of consulting engineering from the
Budget and Planning Org. The company also was presented by the reputable
magazine, Appliance Manufacturer as a R&D company to the world in
1998.
